MEET TONKS AND CHARLIE
Tonks and Charlie -- we're sisters. Dissatisfied and wanting to change things up for ourselves, we decided to build a business together. Lovers of flavourful food and drink, and tired of healthy drinks tasting of sawdust, we found ourselves experimenting in the kitchen, creating healthier alternative drinks that tasted amazing.
Charlie, a childhood nickname. As a kid, I was obsessed with my shoes. They were a practical pair of shoes called "Charlie Browns". I wore them everywhere, even to bed.
Tonks, an unexplained childhood nickname... but it stuck. We guess Tonks either played with Tonka trucks, or she dressed in yellow a lot and was the size of... a truck.
We make mad-tasting date nectar syrups for drinks that can be served warm, or chilled. Flavour first became our motto -- and goodness came naturally.
Here’s how it works: a cold-press machine crushes the dates. The press extracts the maximum amount of nectar from the pulp, leaving the rawest form of date nectar available.
Then the nectar is spiced, bottled & sealed, then put in a large pressure chamber. This is filled with water and a whole lot of pressure is applied. This inactivates pathogens, but because no heat is used, we keep the goodness.
This process extends the shelf-life of the date nectar by eliminating potential pathogens and spoilage organisms, without destroying structure, texture, flavour, nutritional value & performance.
And since no preservatives or nasties have been added, the natural flavour of the date nectrar is retained.
